Our Story

Handmade Nudie custom solid wood longboard and cruiser skateboards

Nudie Boards are handmade by Alby and Nic in hilly Surrey, and wild Cornwall, England.

The idea behind Nudie Boards was seeded almost 20 years ago, when we rode our first skate ski on a surf trip in Cornwall. A wooden waterski with skate wheels… Who? Why? What the.... YES! We immediately took it to the nearest hill and started carving down towards the beach, where we had been surfing that morning. It felt amazing. So simple, so much fun. Everyone stopped to look. Everyone smiled as we cruised past them. We rode till nightfall. Then we strapped a torch to the front of the board and carried on, until we had not an ounce of energy left to smile. That’s how it began. It started a quest... The quest to take the skateboard right back to its roots.

We’re passionate about simplicity, about going back to basics. It’s how we live our lives, with the best twists of modern thrown in too.

It’s kind of handy that Nic has run design agencies, and Alby is a product engineer and photographer. Take this and combine with a ridiculous passion for boards and boardsports (we skate, surf, kitesurf, wakeboard and snowboard). Mix in constant travel and adventure in pursuit of our sports, and throw in the love of designing and making beautiful boards, and you have Nudie Boards.

We take the roots of a design, and improve it, whilst keeping it faithful and retaining its originality.

We can’t help ourselves. We ride classic motorbikes from the 50’s and 60’s with a few special tweaks to perfect and personalise the ride, oh and the noise – don’t get us started…

We're lucky enough to split our time between the water's edge in wild Cornwall and a huge barge on the Thames - so we really have the best of both worlds. The boards are handmade in both locations.

So take a look at our collection. We’ll be sorry to see them go, so make sure you give them a good home and take them out as often as you can. They’ll treat you well!

And don't forget to keep up with our antics on Facebook and Instagram too.
